  • Our 2017 Charity

We are delighted to have Worldreader as our Charity of the Year for 2017—a charity on a mission to create a world where everyone is a reader.

Founded in 2010, Worldreader has transformed the lives of people in the developing world by unlocking the potential of millions of people through the use of digital books in places where access to reading materials is very limited.

Worldreader believes everyone can be a reader. The nonprofit provides children, students, and families free access to its vast digital library via e-readers and mobile phones. Since 2010, over 5 million people across 52 countries have read from a library of over 40,000 local and international e-books on Worldreader platforms.

    Charity of the Year

The London Book Fair has supported many and varied book-related charities as long as the Fair has been running. The support has taken many forms, from free-of-charge stands to promotion on the website and everything in between.

In 2014, we formalised these initiatives somewhat, and invited applications to become the annual priority charity. The Charity of the Year 2016 is First Story, and in 2015, was Book Trust.
